Monthly Update, November 2023

Summer is in the air. The weather is warming up and we are beginning to plan for the end of year holiday. It is only a few more weeks before we can head off for a couple of weeks of hard-earned rest with the family. There is still a bit to do before then.

Census week Survey

Now is the time for all advocates and organisations to participate in the Census Week surveys. You can find the surveys here. We ask that you complete the surveys by next Friday, 10 November.  The information will be used to develop a profile of who is working in the sector to enable DANA to advocate for more resources for the sector. the survey will also assist the NCDA to plan capacity building activities for the sector.

Aged Care and Disability Advocacy Standard Consultation

It has just been 12 months since Disability Advocacy Network Australia DANA) and Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) launched a project to develop a standard specifically for organisations delivering Individual aged care and disability advocacy. As far as we know, this is the first standard in the world specifically for advocacy.

Since the launch, the NCDA team have been working with Standards Australia and Capacity Services, OPAN and DANA to draft the standards. It is now time to get feedback from the sector.
