During early November 2023, we opened two sector-wide surveys – one for individuals working in the disability advocacy sector and one for organisations delivering disability advocacy services. The analysis of the individual survey has been completed and the report is going through its final checks. Whilst the purpose of this round of surveys was to build a baseline to start from, some interesting findings were made.
Preliminary results:
34% of respondents to the survey held more than one role and the most common dual role was that of Individual Advocate and NDIS Appeals Advocate. 12% of people who responded to the survey identified as Managers/CEO’s, and of that 12%, 64% also hold a caseload! That means only 34% of Managers/CEO’s aren’t engaging in direct client work.
29% of respondents advised they are employed under a permanent full-time arrangement, while 40% are employed as permanent part-time. 30% of respondents are employed under a contract or casual arrangement (both full-time and part-time). More information like this will be available with the full report which is coming soon.
