NCDA team attends Queensland Disability Advocacy Conference
In June, our NCDA team came out from behind their computer screens and attended the Queensland Disability Advocacy Conference. It was a great opportunity to meet advocates in person and find out what we are all doing in the sector.
During the conference Courtney, Education and Engagement Officer at NCDA, presented on ‘Why data is your new bff (best friend forever)’. Yes, Courtney loves her data. What has become clear, is that the disability advocacy sector is at capacity. So, unless we collect and report on the data, we will not have the evidence to argue for more funding.
During June, the NCDA team also attended several state-based network meetings in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.
Attending these networks help us understand the issues that States and Territories are facing, and ultimately help our work in collating systemic issues to feed back to the sector, elevate to systemic organisations and report to Department of Social Service (DSS).
We look forward to attending and participating in other networks around the country. If you are organising a state network or issue-based network and would like the NCDA to attend, please get in contact with us.
